Our Mission
BarBrewGrass, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial support to the children and their families at the MUSC Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Inpatient Unit of the Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital. Our annual music festival showcases Low Country talent and art with a full BBQ spread, beer, local bands, a locally sourced oyster roast by Barrier Island Oyster Co., a kid's fair, and a silent auction. To date, BarBrewGrass, Inc. has raised enough money to serve 270 families and we aim to increase that number every year!

Why Help?
Many of the families battling with cancer often experience:
Recent research has shown a link between financial INSECURITY & treatment OUTCOMES. For example, cancer patients who file for bankruptcy have a 79% GREATER RISK of mortality.
Therefore, BarBrewGrass believes that alleviating financial anxiety is a VITAL, TANGIBLE, & TRACTABLE step in the overall treatment of pediatric cancer and blood disorders.
Our History

THE BEGINNING
The BarBrewGrass Festival began in 2008 on Sullivan's Island, SC when Rhett Cooper needed to raise money to run the Anchorage Marathon for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
THE COLLABORATION
DAVIS AULD, her 1st cousin and personal hero, unsurprisingly jumped at the chance to host.
BOBBY YARBROUGH stepped up as pit master & caterer.
KENNY BARNES'S bluegrass band entertained.
BRAXTON CRIM designed the über popular logos & merchandise incorporating Davis's original artwork.
And though just Davis's sweet girlfriend at the time, SU ROANE was an integral part of BBG’s success.
This dedicated team, along with the help of generous family and friends, threw one heck of a good time and RAISED OVER $3,000!
FAST FORWARD to 2017

DAVIS & SU earned Post-graduate degrees exemplifying their hearts of service--healing others through orthotics, Prosthetics, & physical therapy, respectively. Su Roane became SU AULD and they started a family.
But on April 20, 2017, their lives were turned upside-down.
Davis & Su's Son, ROANE, was diagnosed with chemo-resistant Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
Thus, BarBrewGrass was resurrected, coming back full-circle to help those who started it.
an update on roane

ROANE is 4 years out of treatment, living a healthy, cancer- and chemo-free life!
”The words ‘THANK YOU’ will never be enough. You are my earth angels.
As my godmother put it:
’Y'all got us from the Titanic to the lifeboat.’”
