barbrewgrass …

this is why we do it

No one really understands how hard it is to have a child with a disability, being a single parent, and trying to work with absolutely no support. It mentally, emotionally and financially drains you.... So thank you so much for your support and I hope your foundation continues to help families in need!
— Mother of young boy
Our son recently finished his second cycle of chemotherapy when his immune system tanked.  We were laying down realizing this hospital stay was going to be a long one. Then our social worker knocked on the door and surprised us with the BBG swag and money you guys raised for families like ours and it really brightened our day. All I could think was, there are really amazing people in this world!

(btw his tumor shrunk from 9cm to 3.5cm on his last pet scan, Woot Woot!)
— 6 year-old boy (Stage 3: T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma)

“We have been inpatient for 7 weeks following a bone marrow transplant. Your gift lifted our spirits and reminded us there are so many people rooting for him. Thank you!”
— 2 year-old boy (neuroblastoma)

“Today is day 79 this admission but we have spent more than 200 nights in the hospital since August 2021. This is our 19th hospitalization. Our family lives In Lugoff, SC & I can’t tell you how much we appreciate $300.”
— 4 year-old girl (severe idiopathic aplastic anemia)

On behalf of my family, we truly thank you for the monetary gift we received today. The gift was unexpected, and we cannot thank your organization enough. Now that we know about this organization and what it represents, we will be very supportive of its mission and cause. The joy we feel right now is indescribable, Thank you so much.

My son and I truly felt comforted, loved, and supported with the receipt of our gift. As we spend our 34th day here at MUSC Shawn Jenkins, we are homesick, and sometimes we even get tired and a little weary. Thank you for lifting our spirits!
